Congratulations to Forrest Lewis, Director of the North Las Vegas Public Library District, for winning the 2015 Nevada Library Association’s Librarian of the Year, the most important honor awarded within the library profession in the state of Nevada.
Forrest has done an incredible job leading the effort to bring the library back from the brink of dissolution just a few years ago. Forrest leads an incredible staff of 19 serving 230,000 residents with only three branches and a meager a $2m budget.
We kicked off the strategic planning process for the library in July. We’re honored to be working with two amazing colleagues: Sam McBane Mulford from Ideation Collaborative in Saratoga, CA, who is preparing the organizational development component of the plan; and Kevin McGillivray from Insight Creative in Green Bay, WI, who is preparing the branding plan.
The changes taking place and the strategic planning process even caught the attention of the Las Vegas Review Journal. They did an article on the library’s comeback. Enjoy!
